Jesse D. Pettit founded Pettit & Spontak, PLLC in 2009 with Edward C. Spontak. Attorney Pettit has developed a successful practice at Pettit & Spontak, PLLC representing businesses and individuals in a wide array of litigation matters. He has represented clients in federal and state courts in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including matters involving breach of contract, construction, collection and property damage cases. Attorney Pettit has tried cases to jury verdict in both the state and federal courts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Attorney Pettit has also developed and maintains a steady practice in the area of family law at Pettit & Spontak, PLLC. He is experienced in all areas of family law litigation and represents clients in Allegheny, Washington and the surrounding counties in western Pennsylvania in matters of divorce, custody and support.

Additionally, Jesse Pettit’s work includes a natural resources practice. Mr. Pettit has represented private landowners, as well as commercial landowners, not-for-profit organizations (including several sportsmen’s clubs), and multi-parcel landowner groups relating to issues in connection with gas exploration/operations. Pettit & Spontak, PLLC has negotiated a significant number of gas leases involving properties in ten different counties throughout Pennsylvania. Further, Attorney Pettit has handled litigation and pre-litigation claims relating to land use, pipeline, and lease disputes.

Mr. Pettit started his career as a Deputy Attorney General in the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office where he was responsible for litigation arising out of asset forfeiture actions taken by the Commonwealth. While working as a Deputy Attorney General, he also handled all aspects of criminal prosecution from grand jury work through disposition or jury trial. Mr. Pettit gained extensive trial experience while serving as a Philadelphia Assistant District Attorney, where he was responsible for handling a large trial docket of criminal cases in the Municipal Court Division. As a Philadelphia Assistant District Attorney, Mr. Pettit prosecuted approximately 50 non-jury trials, and presented evidence in approximately 2500 felony preliminary hearings. Mr. Pettit entered private practice in 2005 when he joined a small Pittsburgh law firm as an associate attorney with a focus on civil litigation, white collar criminal defense and family law.

Mr. Pettit is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Mr. Pettit is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association and Washington County Bar Association.

Mr. Pettit received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2001 where he was a co-founder and president of the Family Law Society. He received his B.S., Cum Laude, in Pre-Law/Legal Communications from Ohio University in 1997.
