Edward Spontak founded the firm in 2009 with law school classmate Jesse D. Pettit. Attorney Spontak’s practice focuses on representing clients in litigation and commercial matters, as well as handling an array of estate/trust related cases.
Attorney Spontak has developed a successful practice at Pettit Spontak & Mihok, PLLC representing businesses, both large and small, in a variety of litigation matters. Spontak has tried cases in the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, as well as in federal court in the Western District of Pennsylvania. Additionally, Mr. Spontak has assisted commercial clients in asset purchases/sales, sales/purchases of property, contract negotiation and drafting, and establishment of business entities.
Prior to founding Pettit Spontak & Mihok, PLLC, Mr. Spontak worked at the Pittsburgh office of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae (which subsequently merged with Dewey Ballantine to become Dewey & LeBoeuf), a multinational law firm. While at LeBoeuf Mr. Spontak focused on litigation matters and handled commercial claims in twenty-five states. Specifically, he handled construction, products liability, breach of contract, collection actions, toxic tort, and other commercial cases. In connection with his products liability and construction litigation practice, Mr. Spontak became well versed in alternative dispute resolution having mediated dozens of cases across the country.
Wills, Estates and Trusts
Mr. Spontak represents individuals and families in Orphans’ Court litigation matters to include Will contests, guardianship proceedings, and cases involving trustee’s/executor’s breach of fiduciary duty. While Attorney Spontak has been able to resolve many cases of this kind through negotiation and settlement, he has also taken Orphans’ Court cases through trial in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas.
He frequently represents executors/administrators and trustees in estate administrations matters in counties throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. While the estate administration process can be complex, this firm uses a methodical approach to ensure that the estate is in compliance with all applicable rules/laws, and that all beneficiaries are treated appropriately under the law.
Attorney Spontak’s practice also includes estate planning. He has drafted wills/trusts, powers of attorney, and living will documents for individuals and families throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
